starting my journey to that #debtfree life.
I’ll start this out with a bit of honesty – I have never been good with managing my money. I’ve been working since I was 16 and I don’t have much to show for it. Besides paying thousands of dollars for school, I can’t exactly place where all that other money went.
My mom has recently been on a Dave Ramsey kick – she read Total Money Makeover and the rest is… well… history. She bought me the book & I read it from cover to cover. I definitely was skeptical at first but after looking into debt free success stories, I figured there was something to his plan. I mean, I might as well take his money advice because he is a millionaire and my bank account is very sad at the moment.
I went to college and bought a used car… and I have found myself in thousands of dollars of debt. I’m currently working my first full-time job -making the highest hourly salary I’ve made – but I have a long ways to go.
“Being willing to delay pleasure for a greater result is a sign of maturity.”Dave Ramsey, Total Money Makeover
With my recent personal journey to find freedom in my life, I realized that financial freedom is something I need in order to have a peace of mind. I want to be able to pay for my groceries, my house, travel, emergencies, and be prepared for anything. This will not only help manage my anxiety but financial freedom and being able to support myself will do amazing things for my mental and emotional health.
“15 percent of success could be attributed to training and education, while 85 percent was attributed to attitude, perseverance, diligence, and vision.”Dave Ramsey, Total Money Makeover
I want financial freedom and I know hard work will get me to the place I want to be. I am so excited to start this journey and set up a solid foundation for my future. I finished Dave’s Baby Step One already ($1,000 emergency fund) and next on the list is paying off my debt – one loan at a time! I have my budget for February set in stone and I am ready to manage every dollar that comes my way. I am ready to say goodbye to my debt, my anxiety about money and my credit card. Here is to growing up, taking responsibility, planning for the future and working hard.
